Taxationland

“One thing is clear: The Founding Fathers never intended a nation where citizens would pay nearly half of everything they earn to the government.”
— Ron Paul

Sometimes, occasionally, every now and then, when the blue moon rises and the bullfrogs dance, your elected officials manage to save you just a little bit of the hard earned. But, more often than not, they're elbow deep in your pocket, digging with squiggling fingers for every last farthing, then damning you for a selfish nit if you dare to breath a word of protest.

At Norumbega, it is our mission to track the money taken from you, to ensure it is spent effectively and efficiently. Certainly, some taxation is necessary. There are things the private sector can't, or won't do, and, as often as not, these are the things most vital to the function of a healthy society. But neither should government create the very need it hopes to eliminate, waging war on poverty and leaving nothing by the working poor in its wake. With every story we write, we keep one principle in mind: It's your money.
